New 2023 Ford Maverick Pickup Truck Price, Specs, Release Date – Ford revived Maverick’s name for his small pickup truck and placed it under the medium-sized Ranger. Maverick shares parts and mechanics not with the Ranger. Instead, Maverick uses a similar chassis to the compact crossover Bronco Sport.

A hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, an electrical motor, and a continuous variable automated transmission with a front-wheel-drive will be the standard powertrain. Ford will offer all-wheel-drive, but only with the optional 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder non-hybrid engine. All models will have the same four-door crew-cabin body style as the 4.5 footbeds. Hyundai will be entering a new category of small pickup trucks with Maverick and the Santa Cruz.
Ford Maverick is available in three trims: LX, XLT, and Lariat. XL is the most affordable option to keep costs as low as possible. Although it lacks many of the creature comforts most buyers expect, it is still a good choice for a work truck. The XLT package adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, cruise control, power lock to the truck body, powerful exterior mirrors, and many other features, making it a more value-oriented model.
Ford is now using the Bronco Turbocharged turbocharged three-cylinder engine for its standard powertrain to switch to a hybrid with their Maverick base powertrain. All trims come standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder motor, assisted by an electric motor to deliver the combined 191 horsepower. This model is equipped only with front-wheel drive and continuously adjustable automatic transmission. Buyers can also choose a nonhybrid engine, which is a swapped 250-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder and an eight-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available with this powertrain.
Maverick has a payload of 1500 pounds and towing capacity of up to 2000 pounds when equipped with a basic hybrid engine. Maverick’s four turbocharged cylinders can pull up to 4000 lbs. You can pull even more when you have a small pickup. Santa Cruz can pull up to 5,000 pounds.

All Mavericks can be described as crew cabins. The four doors on all Mavericks look almost like a back seat. Ford included ample storage space and trash areas throughout the Cabin, including large areas under the back seats. Although the basic model is not luxurious, it offers all of the standard comforts, such as audio controls, tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, remote keyless access, and adjustable lumbar support in the front seat. On Lariat and XLT trims, more features are available as a standard or part of a selected package. These include dual-zone automatic climate controls, ambient interior lighting, and powered seats. Ford said the 4.5-foot Maverick bed could fit up to 18 pieces of 4×8-foot-three-quarter-inch plywood without having to load it obliquely. All Maverick trims come standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Wi-Fi hotspots are standard features on all Maverick trims. There are several options, including a SiriusXM satellite radio and an upgraded B&O Play stereo system. You can also charge your smartphone wirelessly.
Maverick will provide some driver assistance features but most of the most desired items will require option packs and jumps for more costly trim. It is less powerful than traditional body-on-frame pickups but it is also more affordable to make and purchase and it is more efficient. Maverick used Ford’s C2 platform and shared many things with Escape and The Bronco Sport. They also shared a production line at Blue Oval’s Hermosillo, Mexico plant. The Escape and Bronco Sport lines are the inspiration for the Maverick powertrain. The powertrain consists of a 2.5-liter I-4/electric engine that drives the front wheels via CVT. Optional on the Maverick is the Turbocharged EcoBoost I-4 2.0-liter Turbocharged EcoBoost I-4 by The Bronco Sports Badlands. The Bronco Sport is powered by 250 horsepower and 277 lbft of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic.

Maverick FX4 has all-terrain tires and a revised rear suspension. It also features higher-capacity radiators. Mavericks front-wheel drive has 8.3-inch ground clearance, while the all-wheel-drive version is 8.6 inches. The entry-level Maverick XL starts at $21,490. Ford has not yet announced pricing for the Maverick XLT or Maverick Lariat pickups.
