2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST – The domestic pickup-truck market has been dominated by the Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, and other brands since the beginning of time. Electrification is bringing it a new generation. We’ve already seen a lot about Ford’s F-150 Lightning. It’s now time for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado Electric Vehicle (CESV) to join the fray. Chevrolet revealed Wednesday the 2024 Silverado EV pickup truck at CES 2022 in Las Vegas. When it rolls off Detroit GM Factory Zero’s line in 2023, it will be available in two trims: the fully loaded RST, First Edition, and WT Work Truck.

2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST Redesign
The Silverado EV’s design extends GM’s existing lineup of electric cars. The truck’s front fascia is reminiscent of the Bolt EV and Bolt EUVs. A thin running light strip covers the entire width. The pickup’s front overhang is smaller than modern pickups. It is much easier to park than the 2500 Duramax. The RST retains the matte-gray elements at the lower part of the body while the WT keeps them up to the bumper. Yes, there’s a frunk. It is called the eTrunk by General Motors. My favorite feature about the Silverado Electric Vehicle is the buttressing between the bed and cabin. Although it is reminiscent of the Chevy Avalanche’s, it’s a wonderful thing. The pickup’s rear end looks more traditional if you look further back. MultiFlex Tailgate opens up to reveal a bed with a length of 11 inches.
Specs
Between the bed and the cabin, there’s another secret. It’s the MultiFlex Midgate from GM. This pass-through can be used on RST models. This allows buyers to transport larger loads by folding down portions of the 40-60 split-second rows. With the midgate open, the Silverado EV RST can store items up to 9′ long. You can place the tailgate in maximum storage and it will grow to 10 feet 10 inches. It is massive! It is huge! I can confirm this because I have seen it in person. What are the wheels you see in GM promotional photographs? These wheels measure 24 inches in diameter. GM didn’t give any numbers but the roof measures 233 inches in length. This is only a fraction of the length of the F-150 Lightning. The Lightning’s roof measures 76 inches. Chevy could have copied the interior of the 2022 Silverado’s interior, but it didn’t. Instead, we see a clean-sheet design that looks almost as much like a pickup truck as a passenger car. According to GM, the center console can store 7 gallons. This provides enough room for a lunch cooler. The fixed-glass roof makes the large cabin feel even more spacious.
Charging, powertrain, and capabilities
All models of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV can ride on GM’s Ultium platform. This platform is identical to the Hummer EV. The same battery will be used for both the RST- and WT versions. GM estimates that each model will have 400 miles range. The RST produces more power; the Silverado E-Vote EV RST can generate up to 664 horsepower and 780 lb-feet of torque in Wide Open Watts mode. Silverado E-Vote EV WT is rated at 510 horsepower and 615 lb. ft. According to the automaker, WOW mode will enable the RST to reach 60 mph in just over 4.5 seconds. Silverado’s initial battery will be capable to charge up to 350 Kilowatts. There are other options available. The battery can increase the range by approximately 100 miles in just 10 minutes when it is at its maximum speed. Like the F-150 Lightning, the Silverado can supply power to tools on job sites or campsites. Ten outlets can supply up to 10.2kW. This is slightly more than the Lightning.

Both Silverado Electric Vehicles can haul heavy truck loads. The RST can haul up to 10,000 pounds and 1,300lbs in its cargo area. WT’s numbers, however, are lower at 8,000 versus 1,200. Those who are required to pull heavy items might want to wait a bit as GM promises a max tow version of the WT, capable of towing up to 20,000 lbs. This is HD truck territory.
Interior
Silverado’s electric vehicle is loaded with technology, both inside and out. RST models come with an adaptive air suspension standard, which adjusts the truck’s ride height by approximately 2 inches. Four-wheel steering is also possible, but it does not offer the same crab-walking feature as the GMC Hummer EV. Chevy Safety Assist, the automaker’s suite of active and passive driver assistance, is Chevy Safety Assist. It is standard on RST or WT. It includes an automatic emergency brake, forward colliding warning with pedestrian detection, and the following distance indicator. The suite also includes lane assistance, lane departure alert, automatic high beams, and lane help, as well as lane warning, lane keeps assistant, lane lane-keep assistant, and lane aid. It can be towed on US highways. The tech worked as well on a GMC Sierra as the regular Super Cruise. There is however a bit more work-focused capability.

The Silverado E-Vault RT fully loaded has impressive cabin tech. The standard infotainment screen measures 17 inches. A configurable gauge monitor measuring 11 inches is also available. WT offers a telematics solution of 11 inches and a digital cluster of 8 inches to reduce this size.
2024 Chevy Silverado EV RST Price & Release Date
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV Model WT will go on sale. The WT is expected to begin deliveries in spring 2023. A GM representative said that many of the models for the initial model year have been sold out. The WT is a fleet purchase so GM has yet to announce a price. Once production ramps up, GM will sell the WT for $39,900. This range will however be lower than previously stated. The RST First Edition won’t roll off the production lines until fall 2023. It will cost $105,000 before the destination. In the future, other trims will be offered, including Trail Boss badges as well as familiar badges. GM intends to offer a Silverado EV variant at different prices, including $60,000 and $70,000 as well as $80,000 but didn’t provide any timeline.
