2024 Chevy Silverado Electric Pickup – We are entering the year of electric pickup trucks. Paying customers can now get the Rivian R1T and GMC Hummer EV as well as the Ford F-150 Lightning. The Silverado EV weighs significantly more than the F-150 Lightning. The Chevy is over six feet tall and nearly 19 feet long. It is smaller than semi-ton trucks like the F-150 Lightning. Silverado’s payloads are between 1,200 and 1,300 lbs. This makes it ideal to transport large, but lightweight objects.

The mid-gate folds down, allowing it to make the most of its dimensions. This allows the bulkhead to be dropped between the rear seats and the bed. This increases cargo length from 5.9 to 10.9 feet. The rear glass can be removed if you don’t want to use the entire height of the cab for bulky items. Like other electric pickups, the Silverado EV features a large front trunk. General Motors claims the next version of the truck will be released sometime after 2024. The prices will vary between the basic WT to the super-fancy RST. General Motors claims that it will target prices between $50,000, $60,000, and $70,000 for its truck. They also plan to add more off-road-oriented trims. Silverado EV versions are now shown with two motors instead of the Hummer’s three, and without the Hummer’s locking front differential. This will limit your ability to use technical off-road terrain.

Silverado EV’s platform offers many cool features such as four-wheel steering. There are limitations. The WT can carry only 1,200 pounds, while the RST can transport up to 1,300. Rivian R1T is capable of carrying 1,760 pounds while F-150 Lightning can carry 2,000 pounds. Payload is the total vehicle weight and not what you have put in it. This number must include the weight of canines and humans, as well as any other items that are in the truck. Silverado’s small payload limits its ability to do other than commute-style tasks. It is very similar to the Toyota Tacoma. It is easy to see the dangers involved in hauling heavy items, such as mulch pallets that weigh 1,200lbs, with a truck.

The $40,000 WT is a very affordable vehicle, but it will not be able to safely transport large amounts of equipment, crews, or supplies. The six-figure RST has an impressive range but lacks the off-road features more adventurous drivers might need. The truck’s bed is the biggest of all EVs, but it will not allow you to carry heavy items. GM hopes that future models with a WT/RST can work and play a little harder.
