2023 Land Rover Discovery Specs, Price, MPG & Reviews

2023 Land Rover Discovery – During WWII, almost all armies had a Jeep as a part of their arsenal. Some license the original for local production, while others adapt the design and add their own flair. This is the Land Rover. British Army’s first Series Land Rovers were its driving force. They were slowly transformed into fashion statements and farming equipment. Land Rover’s success was key to its expansion. With the Range Rover, they also created the luxury off-roader segment. They wanted to offer more SUV-oriented options for families. The Discovery was born. It was a great success.

2023 Land Rover Discovery Review

Land Rover introduced Discovery in 1989. The Honda Crossroad by Land Rover was the Japanese name for it. It was Land Rover’s family-oriented offering. It was larger in dimensions and had standard three-row seating. It was initially known as the LR3 and LR4 in North America for a few generations before it was given its current global name.

Exterior

The 2023 model is virtually unchanged from the 2022 or 2021 models. However, they received a slight update. The headlights have a new design, with matrix LED technology. Some models have new air intakes. The side remains the same, apart from the new alloy wheel designs, while the rear features new taillights and the ever-so-controversial off-center license plate mount. The R Dynamic trim now includes the Black Exterior Pack. It will continue to be available on the 2023 model. Engine

Land Rover offers three powertrain options for the 2023 Discovery. They are available depending on the trim level. For the base Discovery, the only option is the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder (P300), which produces 296 horsepower. Upgrade to the R Dynamic to get the 3.0-liter turbo I6 (355 horsepower). Both powertrains can be found in the Metropolitan Edition. Both powertrains are solid. The only electrification is the 48V mild-hybrid system found within the I6 unit. These systems offer greater performance and refinement.

Transmission

Four-wheel drive is the standard fit. The power is distributed by an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. The Discovery is not as focused on all-terrain driving as its stablemates, the Defender. However, it can still handle most terrains and performs as well as you would expect from Land Rover vehicles. The Discovery is very spacious and comfortable on the roads. Although Discovery can be fun, it isn’t necessarily fun.

Interior

Even though it is difficult to see the facelift Discovery from the outside, the interior has been upgraded. The interior of the Discovery pre-facelift felt somewhat lacking. You will find everything you need in the 2023 model. You can now get the standard-fit digital instrument cluster as well as a more modern, modern steering wheel. The Pivi Pro infotainment system and JLR’s new gear selector are displayed on a curved display. There are many premium interior colors that you can choose from. The Activity Key offers four-zone climate control and ambient light. It also provides WiFi hotspots. For off-roading enthusiasts, the two-speed transmission case is available and there is a rear locking differential.

JLR products don’t have a reputation for reliability. The 2023 Discovery is too young to make any specific statements. However, the powertrains under the hood have been in use for many years on other Land Rovers and Jaguar models. These powertrains are quite reliable and JLR is working hard to improve their reliability record. We’ll soon discover if these powertrains will be typical Land Rover engines. The Discovery can accommodate seven passengers. All trims include a third row. The cargo area is 9.1 cubic feet with all three rows in place. It can be reduced to 45 cubic feet by putting the third row down and 74.3 cubic yards when the second and the third rows are folded.
