2022 Toyota Tundra Dually

2022 Toyota Tundra Dually – The introduction of a fresh half-ton pickup has been a cause of joy in our house, particularly when the truck in question replaces a vehicle that has been manufactured with only minor modifications for the better portion of 15 years. When the same rig has a selection of new engines, the excitement levels really go into the top gear.

What’s New for 2022?

Toyota gives the Tundra an urgent, complete redesign after the previous generation was largely unchanged since its launch in 2007. While it was updated to the 2014 model year however, it was unable to take sales from domestic half-ton rivals such as those of the Ford F-150, the Ram 1500 as well as its Chevy Silverado 1500, as well as the GMC Sierra 1500. The new Tundra can’t yet surpass any of the other options The Tundra’s numerous upgrades should make it much more competitive and desirable when it hits the market this winter.

Performance

Prior to that, the Tundra was only available with an naturally aspirated V-8 engine. For the new model year it’s the Tundra is equipped with a V-6 which is more powerful than the old engine even though it has two less engine cylinders. A 10-speed automated transmission replaces the six-speed model on all models.

A regular 3.5-litre twin-turbo V-6 produces 389 hp and 479 Lb-ft of force (compare with the 2021 Tundra’s 381 horsepower, 401 Lb-ft V-8). For those who are looking for more power, they can pair this V-6 engine with an electric motor. This hybrid option is available, output jumps up to 437 horsepower and 583 pounds of torque. These hybrid systems feature serious technology.

Engines

The Tundra is a departure from the previous models’ preference for a naturally in-line V6s and V8s to make way for the use of two twin-turbo 3.5L V6s. One of them is electronically augmented with an electronic hybrid system. The base V6 puts out 389 horsepower along with 479 pound-feet of torque. Both are improved against the 5.7L V8 that powered the 2021 Tundra. It produced 381 horsepower as well as 401 pound-feet of torque. Adding a hybrid’s electric motor makes the 2022 Tundra’s horsepower in the range of 437 horsepower or 583 pounds-feet of torque. An automatic transmission with 10 speeds is standard. It replaces a 6-speed automatic used in the ’21 model.

Truck makers are known to pound their chests with the best payload and towing figures even in this half-ton range. That’s why Toyota was all over the moon to let us know that its new Tundra can haul 12,000 pounds in the new hybrid V6 as well as appropriate towing equipment. It’s nearly 20 percent more than the older Tundra, by the way. Information on that smaller engine aren’t yet available.

Similar to payloads, a half-ton vehicle’s engine and body design play a big part in its towing rating. To help, we’ll choose the most powerful hybrid powertrain four-door at Ford and Ram for comparison with Toyota’s IForce MAX. With this in mind, aim for the maximum weight of 12,700 pounds on Ford or 11,560 pounds at Ram.
